Having a Bit of a Panic Attack (Updated in Comments)

Seventh Anniversary 5000 Comments 500 Love Its First Answer
edited February 2014 in GP Moms
I just got in to work and I'm having a mild panic attack.

I'm bleeding/spotting...mostly brown but some red, and enough that it even went partly through my jeans. I had what felt like a typical first-day period cramp this morning right after I cleared my car off. I got back inside and felt it, and went and lounged on the couch for several minutes. It passed, and I haven't been feeling particularly crampy since then, but the blood when I got to work has me freaking out.

I'm about to call my doc's office and leave a message for the nurse to call me back. I'll do whatever she says. This is one of those times I freaking hate working so far away from where I live/my doc's office is.

  • No sex in the last few days (DH has been out doing a lot of snow removal).

Keeping my feet up, and drinking lots and lots of water.

The nurse just called me back. She talked to my OB nurse, who right now is not concerned; she even took another look at all my u/s results from last week, which all looked totally perfect. But they both want me to call back if anything changes (it gets heavier at all or anything like that).

I just tapered off progesterone; my last dose was Wednesday night. I hadn't had so much as a single spot in the month and a half I was taking it, not even after ST, so go friggin' figure I would have this scare less than 48 hours after taking my last one.

did they say the transition off the progesterone could cause a little bleeding?

No; she didn't say anything about that (it's not the RE's office at this point, so maybe if I called them for info they'd have something different to say?). She was just very sympathetic and understanding to me wigging out a little, especially since I did just stop taking the progesterone (which she knows).

Sorry for the TMI, but I've been chugging so much water, it's about time for a potty break. I'll let you ladies know how things are looking once I go (hahaha; the things we share!)

  • Lots of T&Ps your way. All my crossables crossed that it's nothing.

If it makes you feel any better I had bleeding during both my pregnancies. One time due to a SCH but the other time there was no explanation besides cervixes being more sensitive and there being more blood flow in the area during pregnancy.

I do know this, somewhere in my logical brain. But the fact that the only bleeding I had the first time around was because I miscarried makes me go straight to worst-case scenario. It's definitely put my guard up.

I have a feeling I'm going to be one of those hysterical pregnant women who calls the doctor's office all.the.time. I hope they don't get sick of me.

  • Spotting seemed to be easing up, but about 20 minutes ago when I went to check, there were bright red drops in the toilet and a lot of red when I wiped.

Waiting for the nurse to call me back again, and DH is on his way to pick me up and drive me home so I don't have to wait for the train (he was still in the city after finishing up last night's plowing/shoveling, thank god).

I'll let you ladies know when I have any news.

Lots of water, feet up and rest.

I had a fair bit of spotting from 6-13 weeks, so even bright red clots in the toilet. They attributed to an irritable cervix and ute. Hopefully, it's the same for you.
